rice cereal

So 2 days ago, we tried rice cereal for the first time and she loved it! She has been watching what we eat very intently for the last few weeks and tries to take food away from us. So, with Emalyn turning 6 months on Sunday, we decided to give it a try. She did great and no adverse reactions. We'll keep it up on occasion (I'm not good at being consistent with baby food as breastmilk is still her main source of nutrition), and have some fun with it.
OH, and yesterday Emalyn developed a new fussy cry that was not normal, and I couldn't console her. After a nervous couple of minutes, I checked her gums and the corner of her first tooth was coming through! Poor baby is still fussy today and I think her other bottom one is starting to push through as well. Hopefully tylenol will help her out!

Frog & fish

We are so grateful to have a pool in our backyard! The kids are loving it and getting to be stronger swimmers. Emalyn gets to come out for 30 minutes at a time and loves the water! We got her this cute lilypad floaty, and she reminded us of a frog the way she kept sticking her tongue out. What a cutie.
Gabriela got her first pair of goggles and has used them extensively! She was a fish last summer, so overly brave and would swim even when no one was looking. I figured it was only a matter of time before she picked it up again, and sure enough, she's back at it.
She's got great form and is able to hold her breath longer and longer. Her favorite thing to do now is jump off the diving board and do a "flipy-flip" like David. David does a flip off the board and so she tries to also, by jumping in and once in the water, trying to push her head down and doing a somersault in the water. Really it looks more like she's doing butterfly w/out the arms :)

Moving day :(

So, moving day was the 28th and we had lots of help from several great friends. It was a bittersweet day, leaving a wonderful place w/so many great friends and memories, and heading back home to our families.
We went out to the farmer's market in Durham with our good friends, the Gooch's, and our kids had a blast spending one more day with them. Necia came to the rescue at the end with popsicles for everyone!!
Some of the wonderful crew that helped us load up all our stuff into our moving truck. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Matt posesses a special gift of "comic relief" when things get too serious. Thanks Matty!!

Yay for quilts!

I finished my mother's day present-a series of quilt classes and this is the finished project, front and back! I love it and I'm so excited to keep making more. I love the social aspect of it, almost as much as the quilt making process. I met some wonderful older women and loved listening to their stories and will miss that comradery.
